What oh what did happen last night, was the echo of the daylight

She had a horrible encounter
With those demons, it was indeed a downer
All alone on the silent street
All she saw were the evils feet
Victoriously walking away in the deadly silence
Committing their pathetic act of violence

Her name was dragged
A whore she was tagged
Every eye wandered on her
Her pride slowly blurred
Conjectures said that it was all her fault
Which caused her this assault

All around were faces lit with questions
Opinions forming without knowing fractions
Frightened she stood so helpless
Assuming it to be her fault she was clueless
But all she wore was a salwar kurti
Carrying a heart full of purity

Walking around with her head held down
Those whispers made her frown
Support she seeked from the community
Her efforts resulting in nothing but vanity

The society wasn't there to support
All kept their mum as the case reached the court
Counsels fired questions she couldn't bear
But for the justice she started with a tear

In a shaken voice
Without any choice
She spoke of that vicious episode
All while her emotions were ready to explode
Continued to speak the truth
Still she stood , putting them in a Ruth
Weeping all her way
But out all in dismay

Then one weak day, thinking about that night
Remembering her plight
All alone , under the stars she cried
Till every drop of her tear dried
Finally marking the defeat of the society
That poor pure soul took the step and died fighting against the 'new-age humanity'

What oh what did happen last night, was the echo of the daylight

But lately I'm realising a very important fact,
No matter how unfair you feel your life is at times,
You have to keep yourself positive to others.
Fake a little more smiles,
Push towards a little more fun,
And that too whole heartedly.
Not because you don't wanna show your pain,
Because others need some positivity too!
