I'm no fan of Jimmy Kimmel, but this from a presidential administration that vowed to undo 'cancel culture' is pretty rich. What's even richer is this coming from a president who has repeatedly joked about the wanton murder of, for example, defenseless Iranian sailors, who were drowned by Hegseth's military because—in Trump's words—it was "more fun."
But this is a serious issue. Leonarda Jonie was recently on Tim Pool explaining how, as a comedian, if you make it essentially illegal to make fun of a certain group (Jews) this is a fundamental threat to free speech. As with the Trump Justice Department doubling down on Title VI lawsuits against schools for 'antisemitism,' they are selectively MORE 'woke' than even the Biden administration, doubling down on cancel culture for critics of Jews and the authors of Jewish wars.
We all know where this leads. It's a slippery slope that immediately leads to calls to cancel more and more people. This is exactly what happened after it became de facto illegal to joke about Heather Heyer's death after UTR in August 2017—which happened during the last Trump administration. And this is especially topical since the administration has lately taken up the cause of white knighting for this deceased antifa specifically, with Kash Patel claiming their lawsuit against the SPLC is about combating the evil White supremacists who murdered Heather Heyer! If that's their official line, how much longer before they are once again calling to cancel anyone who jokes about the fat coal burner's death?
