Iran Faces Reported 14 Million-Liter Daily Gasoline Deficit
Iran is facing a reported daily gasoline production shortfall of around 14 million liters, according to Farhad Shaharki, a member of Parliament’s Energy Commission board.
Speaking to Shafaqna, Shaharki said daily consumption averages about 135 million liters, compared with domestic production of approximately 121 million liters. He warned that difficulties securing imports through southern ports and reduced Russian refinery output could further complicate supplies, with gasoline imports potentially costing Iran $4–4.5 billion this year.
However, Energy Commission spokesman Reza Sepahvand said there is currently no gasoline supply problem, estimating total available supply at 130–132 million liters per day. He added that a potential “fourth price” for consumption beyond allocated quotas is being considered, while a general price increase is not currently under discussion.
