NEW💸: As California burns and Hurricane Victims continue to go without, Biden’s administration is preparing to announce Wednesday the final $500 million dollars in US military assistance it will provide to Ukraine, according to people familiar with the plans.
The aid will come through Presidential Drawdown Authority, which pulls military supplies and weapons from US stockpiles, according to the people, who asked not to be identified in advance of the announcement.
The Pentagon didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. The Associated Press reported the planned aid earlier Wednesday.
The $500 million will mark the end of about $65 billion in security assistance the Biden administration has funneled to Kyiv since Russia’s February 2022 invasion. President—elect Donald Trump, who takes office in less than two weeks, has been critical of that aid and Biden’s handling of the war, and has pledged to wind down the conflict swiftly.
