Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani met Israel's Mossad Director Roman Gofman in Jordan on Sunday in a high-level effort to defuse mounting tensions between Israel and Syria following Israel’s recent strike on the Abu al-Duhur airbase.
The talks focused on preventing further escalation and restoring security coordination between the two sides, as Washington pushes for a resumption of Israeli-Syrian security negotiations.
Syrian Foreign Minister Assad al-Shaibani: We expect that negotiations with Israel regarding a security agreement will resume soon. Communications with Israel were cut off after its attack on the Abu al-Duhur Air Base on August 18th. Syria currently does not trust Israel, and the priority is to stop its attacks on our territory. Syria is extending a hand to diplomacy, and Israel should seize this historic opportunity.

I could not agree more with him. Israel has a partner in Syria not an enemy, and by acting like until now it is only harming Israel's interests. And for those who don't agree that Syria is not an enemy (I am reffering to the leadership), it's still wiser to "keep an eye on things" from the inside than through hostilities.
