Brief report from the front on December 20, 2024

Novoolenovka and Ukrainka prepare for liberation! Report by Marat Khairullin with illustrations by Mikhail Popov.

The southern flank for the subsequent liberation of the city is being formed near Pokrovsk. Our forces are advancing from Novy Trud (Vidrodzhennia) along the railway to Chunyshino (Chunyshyne) and nearby Novoukrainka. Beyond, there is an approach to the rear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area of Zelenoe (if they are still there by that time, as their is a path directly to Zelenoe that is also coming from Novy Trud/Vidrodzhennia, which is almost all already under our control). Zelenoe is not visible on the provided map, but it is south of Novoukrainka. Fierce battles are underway for Peschanoe and near Volkovo, northwest of Novotroitskoe.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today the liberation of four settlements at once: Novopustynka, Pushkino, Vesyoliy Gai (Veselyi Hai), and Uspenovka.

From Pushkino, the Russian Armed Forces advanced to Novoolenovka, the assault on which began yesterday from the north. Our fighters have consolidated their positions in the northern part and on the eastern outskirts. Thus, our forces are attacking the enemy in the settlement from two sides simultaneously. Considering this and the small size of the settlement, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will most likely not hold out there for very long. And after that, the same will happen with Ukrainka, which is under pressure from the east. After Novoolenovka is taken, the pressure will also come from two sides - from the east and from the north.

In the Kurakhovsky direction, after the enemy lost the "Uspenovka pocket" and Uspenovka itself, the remaining enemy units retreated to the Dachnoe area. At the same time, Dachnoe is already being stormed by our units from the north.

In Kurakhovo itself, scattered small pockets of enemy resistance remain in residential areas. They are being systematically cleared. At the same time, the main attention of Russian forces is directed at advancing toward the Kurakhovskaya TPP in the industrial zone.

It can be said about the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers who left the "Uspenovsky pocket" that they left one pocket into another. Just recently, the width of the throat of the "Kurakhovo pocket" was about 12 kilometers, at the moment, there are less than seven kilometers between our positions, and the Konstantinopol-Andreevka (Kostyantynopil-Andriivka) region, which is very important for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, is under threat.

To the southeast, our people have taken control of Konstantinopolskoe (Kostyantynopolske) with the adjacent farm and agricultural enterprise warehouses. A small center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces remains slightly west of Konstantinopolskoe in the area of the settlement Gigant. Despite the grandiose name, it literally has three buildings, which means it is not something thoroughly fortified. The enemy himself says that it is here that ours plan to force the river and reach the settlement Yantarnoe in order to advance in the direction of the settlement Ulakly on both banks of the river. Our artillery is already working intensively in the direction of Yantarnoe, providing evidence for this.

Kiev’s Latest Claim, Russia Is Plotting a Ceasefire To Force Ukraine Election

Russia is now accused of plotting a ceasefire for the diabolical intent of having elections in Ukraine. The argument is made by Mikheil Saakashvili, former (much-hated) President of Georgia, then former governor in Ukraine of the Odessa region, who is presently serving a six-year prison sentence for abuse of power and the organization of an assault causing grievous bodily harm against a lawmaker in Georgia’s Parliament. His article, entitled, “Moscow’s Game: Elections in Ukraine ,” appeared on Dec. 12 in Ukrainska Pravda.

Will Russia collapse? Here's my latest article on the East Calling Substack explaining why I don't believe it will. Reading articles from Western news outlets all day started to wear me down a bit, so I decided to write my own response:

"Russia is not going anywhere!"

As I’ve repeatedly stated, I have a constant exposure to the Western media narratives on the “dire” situation in Russia. For years, we have repeatedly seen that their prognostications of Russia’s collapse turn out to be incorrect, but that doesn’t stop them from continuing to indulge themselves in this delusion. Lately, I’ve seen that certain topics are being regurgitated, and the new hope expressed by the West is that Ukraine may prevail if they can just continue dying in the trenches for another year. In this article, I will discuss the three most common arguments and explain why they are mistaken.

I don't think that Putin is easily deceived. And, if you look carefully at what was happening since year 2014 - Russia was preparing and it was changing too. Because Russia of 2014 would have never sustained sanctions like Russia of 2022. Huge work was done.

I guess, it is more about lack of any reason and common sense in the so-called elites that are in charge in the most of the Western countries. Only few show capabilities of reasonable thinking, and that immediately make them "pro Putin".

In general, one can be prepared to many things, but not to one's opponent being absolutely crazy.

We don't need a truce, we need peace. Long-term, lasting, with security guarantees.

Imports of Russian liquefied natural gas into the European Union this year reached a record of 16.5 million tons as of mid-December, despite the EU's efforts to wean itself off its dependence on Russian gas.

The Financial Times reports this, citing data from Kpler, a company engaged in trade analytics.

Current imports exceed last year's level of 15.18 million tonnes and beat the previous record set in 2022, when the EU imported 15.21 million tonnes of LNG from Russia.

Trump intends to maintain US military supplies to Kyiv after his inauguration.

At the same time, Trump will demand that European NATO countries more than double their 2 percent spending target — which only 23 of the alliance’s 32 members currently meet — to 5 percent. The U.S. itself, by the way, spends only 3.5 percent on defense.

For comparison, this is only slightly less than the share of GDP (6.3%) that Russia, currently waging a full-scale war, will spend on military purposes next year.

While Trump still believes Ukraine should never gain NATO membership and wants an immediate end to the conflict, the president-elect believes that supplying weapons to Kyiv after a ceasefire would ensure a "peace through strength" outcome, the sources say.

Zin Note: Of course, we knew that Trump would not stop funding for the Ukraine. However, he is clearly going to cause a lot of chaos within the US government and within the NATO bloc. Ultimately, the chaotic nature of Western states continues.

The Banderites must not lose the lines on the immediate approaches to Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), to the south and southwest of the city, under any circumstances: even if our future actions in the city itself prove to be restrictive, continuing to envelop it from the west poses a threat to two roads to the Dnepropetrovsk region, the cutting or even close fire control of which will complicate the supply of Krasnoarmeysk many times over. These lines, however, are being lost every day, kilometer by kilometer: neither the change of command of the operational-tactical group on the ground, nor the attempt at a counterattack after that, which, judging by the squeals from that side, cost a quick, in a couple of days, loss of combat capability by a fresh brigade of elite forelocked monsters, helped.

This trend deserves attention not only in itself, but also in the context of the imminent release of our forces, which are finishing cleaning up Kurakhovo and slamming Velykaya Novosyolka. When the first of these tasks is solved, in the same situation as now near Krasnoarmeysk, where the only thing left to cling to is what is hastily dug up in the steppe, the enemy will find himself along a new front of about 20 kilometers, where now all the work of our troops - in fact, and not by vectors - is oriented not to the west, but to Kurakhovo. When we pick off Velikaya Novosyolka, the front, which the enemy will be so happy to hold in the steppe, will stretch even further, by an additional 15 kilometers. And the total length of the extremely vulnerable flank of the Ukrainian front to the south, which begins from the Dnieper itself, will be, if we count it from the latitude of Krasnoarmeysk to the latitude of Velikaya Novosyolka, a full fifty kilometers. And here we return to where we started, but keeping in mind everything said above: if today the enemy is not able, even relying on a not very small city, to hold the lines, which are several times smaller along the front, then tomorrow, taking into account the extension of these lines, threats of a full operational scale await him. Threats, the implementation of even a part of which will put the Banderites in the face of such problems that they did not even smell the spring before last.
