*It is on this day in 2008 that six Palestinian and Lebanese fighters and the bodies of 200 martyrs were liberated at the hands of Hezbollah.

Around the world, and particularly in the Arab and Iranian region (West Asia), the leading anti-imperialist forces coming into direct confrontation with the United States and the Zionist project are Islamic Resistance forces, including in Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen and Iran. The United States targets these organizations, and states, with criminalization, sanctions and direct military assault. At the same time, imperialist politicians, governments and think tanks regularly raise an alarm about the threat to U.S. hegemony posed by a potential “red-green alliance,” a unified revolutionary/anti-imperialist front involving Islamic resistance and revolutionary left movements at an international level. How should Marxists and left revolutionaries understand the Islamic resistance movements? What is the potential for building a united front?

We will discuss these questions on Sunday, July 19, with Charlotte Kates, co-founder of the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, deputy secretary-general of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, and longtime activist for justice and liberation in Palestine. Based in Lebanon, Charlotte recently returned from Iran, where she attended the millions-strong funeral commemorations for Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

Niveen Abdullah نفين عبدالله from Tulkarm, occupied West Bank, was arrested on 16 April 2026, on the eve of Palestinian Prisoner’s Day.

The visit of lawyer Hassan Abbadi took place after two previous attempts; he waited on 14 May 2026 at the prison gate for hours and it did not happen because of the “major repressive raid,” then, also the visit of 08 June 2026 did not happen due to a state of emergency.

Niveen spoke about the raids that the occupation ordered in the prison, about her health, and sent greetings to her family.

On July 12th, 2006, twenty years ago to this very day, Hezbollah successfully carried out a cross-border mission to liberate Palestinian and Lebanese prisoners that they titled Operation True Promise.

To commemorate this day, Al-Ahrar Palestinian Prisoner Support is re-publishing an English-language translation of Sayyed Nasrallah’s speech from this press conference.

On 26 June 2026, the Lebanese government and the Zionist entity, under the auspices of the United States, announced the signing of a so-called "framework agreement" that poses an extreme danger to the people, land and future of Lebanon. In reality, this agreement provides only a framework for the surrender of South Lebanon, its people, its villages and its land; normalization with the Zionist entity; attacks against the Lebanese Resistance -- the sole source of self-defense for the Lebanese people against ongoing Zionist aggression; submission to United States tutelage and Zionist occupation; relinquishment of the legal, political and natural rights of the Lebanese people; and abandonment of the dozens of Lebanese prisoners currently held in occupation prisons.

As the International Campaign to Free Lebanese Prisoners, we join the Lebanese people, a broad array of political movements, and the Resistance -- and the global movement that stands against U.S. imperialism and Zionist colonialism -- in expressing our outrage at this dangerous "framework agreement," and our commitment to work for the liberation of Lebanese prisoners and of all Lebanese land from the Zionist occupation entity.

Myassar Hdeibat ميسر هديبات, from Dura, is a Palestinian teacher and mother of 5 children, who was arrested on 18 November 2024. She was not released in the Toufan Al-Ahrar exchange deal, just like Shatela Abu Ayyad and Aya Khatib (the latter is now free).
She was visited by lawyer and writer Hassan Abbadi and gave a testimony about the prison as well as sending greetings to her loved ones.

Freedom for Myassar and for all Palestinian prisoners!

Capt. Ahmad Ali Shukr, 69, is a retired Captain in the Lebanese General Security from the town of Nabi Chit in the Beqaa Valley. He disappeared on December 17, 2025, as he traveled to Zahle for what was presented to him as a meeting about a real estate purchase. Lebanese investigators have confirmed the suspicions of his family that he was abducted by the Zionist Mossad and kidnapped from Lebanon through the occupied area of Jabal al-Shaykh in Syria.

Four individuals, including one Lebanese suspect who is currently detained, have been charged by the Lebanese military courts with crimes related to working with the Mossad in exchange for money in order to kidnap Capt. Shukr. Three suspects remain wanted, a Lebanese woman, one person with Lebanese an French citizenship, and one person with Syrian and Swedish citizenship.

His family has received no official information about his whereabouts or legal status, and neither they nor the International Committee of the Red Cross have been allowed to communicate with him. His relatives have described the case as a possible enforced disappearance and arbitrary detention under international law and have submitted an urgent request for registration and referral to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).

Four young Lebanese men are missing: Where are they? Their families demand answers

Join their families for a sit-in at the Government Palace in Beirut on Wednesday, June 24 at 6 pm.

On Monday, 15 June, Ali Qashmar, Jawad Bazzi, Hadi al-Raqqa and Mohammed Hassan traveled to South Lebanon from Dahiyeh. Hours later, their families lost all contact with them – Hadi al-Raqqa and Jawad Bazzi disappeared near Wadi al-Hujair, while Mohammed Hassan and Ali Qashmar disappeared near Beit Yahoun. Their families have received no news from the “coordination mechanism” with the occupation army and the U.S., from the Lebanese government, from civil defense or other institutions. Despite social media reports that they were abducted by invading Zionist forces, their families have received no confirmation of these claims.
