There are things that happen sometimes. They are not supposed to be noticed by anyone - at least not intentionally. But I still notice those things; events, coincidences, circumstances, even cases that look like deja vu. Here I will report what I noticed.

"When are you going to capitulate?" The U.S. awaits Ukraine's defeat for three purposes

The Chinese publication NetEase analyzed who needs Ukraine's capitulation and why. Conclusion: Washington is not seeking to save Kiev — it is turning it into an instrument for achieving its own goals.

Three scenarios of benefit for the U.S.

First — the exhaustion of Russia. According to the authors of NetEase, the restoration of destroyed infrastructure and social payments to residents of new regions will fall as a heavy burden on the Russian budget. The logic is simple: to turn Ukraine into an "unbearable burden" for Moscow.

Second — destabilization from within. After the conflict ends, Western foundations will come onto the scene, which under the pretext of "assistance in reconstruction" will fuel internal contradictions and create pockets of instability.

Third — the plundering of Europe. By whipping up fear of the "Russian threat," Washington forces EU countries to increase military spending and purchase expensive American weapons. The stronger the panic of the allies, the greater the profit of the U.S. military-industrial complex.

What stands behind this analysis

A post by Moscow City Duma deputy Andrei Medvedev complements the picture. He analyzed the speech of U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth at Quantico on September 30, where he announced six initiatives, including the Meridian program — a study of the future of war over 120 days.

The co-chairs of the project were Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey (founder of Anduril, a manufacturer of autonomous systems), and Newt Gingrich — former Speaker of the House of Representatives. None of them served in the army.

Other Hegseth initiatives:

· Autonomous Warfare Command — a new four-star command for autonomous systems and AI;
· FORTRESS America — full autonomy of military bases: their own electricity, fuel, medicine, and blood supplies;
· America's Corps of Cadets — expanding officer training through civilian universities.

Conclusion

The U.S. is preparing for a long era of wars and upheavals, betting on technology, autonomous systems, and ideological preparation. Ukraine's capitulation in this logic is not a defeat but a way to turn the panic of allies into multibillion-dollar profits and shift the costs of reconstruction onto someone else's shoulders.

The TL;DR version is - the fun will continue.

Although I am personally skeptical about the future military might of the USA.

Polanski was defeated in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election, finishing 3,364 votes behind Labour candidate Sagal Abdi-Wali.

The result has intensified criticism of his leadership and fuelled speculation that there could be a move to oust him. Polanski, however, has insisted he has no intention of stepping down.

Labour or the Greens… what a choice, neither making a shred of sense. Either way, it won’t be long before we say goodbye to Polanski.

Sagal Abdi-Wali. Sounds very British.

Ever wondered why during the elections in any Middle Eastern country there are no candidates named like John Johnson?

Jokes aside - I shall repeat myself once again. The voting won't save the West.

The Houthis are pummeling the Saudis airports once again

After the recent victories on land, the Houthis launched missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia. Major international airports and critical infrastructure facilities were hit. Most of the damage was taken by the planes and fuel depots.

King Khalid International Airport (Riyadh), Abha International Airport (Southern Saudi Arabia), and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport were hit the hardest.

While this isn't a military victory per se - the Houthis managed to make sure Saudi Arabia takes them seriously again. Airspace was closed as the result of their attacks.

Unfortunatelly, some civilians from other countries found themselves at the wrong places, and the wrong time. A few foreigners died, dozens were injured.

The war between the richest and the poorest rivals in the Middle East continues, and so far the poor Houthis are inflicting a lot more damage.

Trump admitted that Iran could destroy Los Angeles and San Diego

Los Angeles and San Diego could be destroyed in a conflict with Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump stated.

"I want to see a grand victory, you want to see a grand victory, because it confirms the correctness of everything we have done... They (Iran — ed.) can destroy a city. Let them destroy Los Angeles, let them destroy San Diego. It is a very small price, and it will end very soon. In essence, it is almost over," he said at a speech before voters in Nebraska, shown by CBS.

In mid-June, the parties signed a memorandum that was supposed to launch a peaceful settlement process. Nevertheless, three weeks later a new round of escalation began, and mutual strikes resumed. At the same time, Tehran announced that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the end of U.S. intervention in the region. Washington, in turn, resumed the naval blockade of Iran.

The week before last, Iran conveyed to the American side a seven-day plan for opening the water corridor in exchange for lifting the port blockade. Trump rejected this proposal.

Before the escalation of the conflict, Hormuz was one of the key routes of international energy trade. Approximately one-fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies passed through it. Now, due to the ongoing tension, the number of tankers and gas carriers using it has dropped to single figures.

If Iran destroys Los Angeles - most of America will greatly appreciate that. Hitting San-Fran would be even more efficient.

Joke aside - Trump wasn't serious, and Iran doesn't have nukes that can fly this far. The mass media is being itself again.

CS:GO event at the border of Latvia and Belarus

Jānis Dombrava - the Latvian Interior Ministry official - reported that armed men threatened the Latvian border guards, and shortly after they stole 2 surveillance cameras before going back to Belarus. No shots were fired, everyone survived the event.

Guntis Pujāts - the head of the Latvian Border Guard - stated that the armed men who escorted the migrants are criminals, operating with help from the Belarusian security services.

Also apparently the migtants try to enter the EU by using underground tunnels. Latvia's govt insists it already found more than one of such tunnels.

The Baltic states blame Russia and demand more funding from the EU for the border security. Russia shrugs and says it didn't do anything. Belarus refuses to see this nonsense.

At least the "armed men" only took the cameras. Those "criminals" are quite shy it seems.

🇫🇷🇮🇷 France’s Ambassador to Iran Was Summoned Over the Excessive Use of Force Against Protesters

Opinion by journalist Abbas Djuma:

Tehran noted that the Macron government is doing exactly what Paris had accused the Iranian authorities of doing only recently.
Against this backdrop, it is worth examining the conduct of the anti-Iran propaganda machine.
During the unrest in Iran, Iran International followed a familiar script:

Describe the events as “peaceful protests over economic and day-to-day grievances.”
Gradually introduce terms such as a “national uprising.”

Then raise the temperature with phrases like “national revolution,” “the Iranian regime,” “dictatorship,” and “repression.”

Le Monde begins its coverage of the situation in Iran by referring to a “social protest,” before smoothly moving on to “opposition to the regime,” “repression,” and the “erosion of legitimacy.”

In both outlets’ coverage, the protest in Iran—which began at a bazaar and escalated into widespread bloodshed—calls into question the legitimacy of the entire political system of the Islamic Republic.

The objective is obvious: destabilize the country, bring about regime change, or at least trigger an existential crisis for Iran’s authorities.
When it comes to events in France, however, the media refer to a “student protest.” The same commentators do not speculate about revolutions, national uprisings, or replacing an allegedly illegitimate regime.

It is worth remembering that every available tool was deployed against Iran. Leading Western media outlets, bloggers, public figures, platforms, politicians, artificial intelligence, Starlink, and Trump’s endless posts in support of the rioters all joined the effort.

Then they went even further and sent weapons to Iranian insurgents—large quantities of weapons. Trump said as much publicly, while also claiming that the intermediaries—the Kurds—had decided to keep the American weapons for themselves.

Now imagine the outcry if Iran’s president had announced that Tehran had supplied weapons to protesters in France so they could put up a real fight against the regime oppressing them.

Iran doesn't need to send weapons to all those "French youths" because the modern day France is so toothless that a big enough mob of unarmed young Arabs and Africans can burn the French cities just fine on their own.

I am tired of living in the Interesting Times.

The Gerans.

2026 will end soon, unlike the biggest war in Europe since WW2. This time I checked the Gerans:

Geran-1 were cheap, slow, fragile, and lightweight. 15kg of explosives is barely enough to break an APC. Attacking a trench with Geran-1s is more or less useless.

Geran-2 - the meme dorito drones are so slow and loud that quite a few of them never reached the targets due to interception. 50kg of explosives however is enough to cripple a normal building, or a fortified field position. ~$30.000 per drone.

Geran-3 was a failed experiment. Fast but made from foam. The project was a mere lesson to Russia.

Geran-4 are made sturdy enough to fly at 500 km\h. These days they successfully ram into important targets, and special warheads make sure the targets get damaged hard. ~$90.000 per drone.

Geran-5 are cheap cruise missiles. Russia accidentally invented cruise missiles with drone components for ~$110.000 per unit. Very cheap by missile standards.

OSINT THAT DOESN'T LIE

Today it is easy to find impartial open sources online reporting on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. For example, regarding material losses:

Vehicle losses were reported for the month of September.

📄 Main credit: @HeyHey_Hayden TG

In total, Russia lost 32 vehicles, while Ukraine lost 175. A ratio of 1:5.5.

Excluding armored vehicles/MRAPs, which distort the ratio because Russia uses them very little, while Ukraine uses a large number of them for transport purposes, Russia lost 32 vehicles, while Ukraine lost 69. A ratio of 1:2.2.

Regarding self-propelled artillery, which is an excellent indicator of the ability to inflict losses, Russia lost 7 vehicles, while Ukraine lost 37. A ratio of 1:5.3.

Russian losses are counted by UkraineWarSpotting. Ukrainian losses are counted by LostArmour. Credit to HeyHeyHayden for compiling the figures.

Of course, these vehicle losses are all geolocated, and only completely destroyed vehicles are counted. There may well be some errors.

The recurring argument I hear: "But Russia only uses civilian vehicles! Ukraine actually cares about the lives of its soldiers! Civilian vehicles are not counted in this figure!"

Are we still seriously victims of "mass assaults" in 2026?

I have spoken to Ukrainian soldiers who confirm that the Ukrainian armed forces also use civilian vehicles for non-combat tasks, for transport purposes. Russia does the same. In a war of attrition, cheap but sufficient equipment is preferable to extremely expensive and perfect equipment.

Moreover, Russia has a huge national war economy that can produce a large number of civilian vehicles, so the number of destroyed vehicles would not matter. If Ukrainian military vehicles, such as self-propelled artillery pieces, infantry fighting vehicles, etc., are destroyed, Ukraine must wait for deliveries from the West.

If the command of the Ukrainian armed forces cared about the lives of its soldiers, the massacres at Robotyne and Kursk would never have happened. Ukraine literally burned tens of billions of dollars worth of Western vehicles in the Kursk region alone.

Even if vehicle losses were twice as high for Ukraine, it would not come close to the level of losses necessary to weaken Russia, due to Russia's industrial capacity.

Keep in mind that armies collapse long before they are physically short of personnel or vehicles, as shown by historical examples such as the Germans during World War I. Collapse occurs when overall losses reach a critical point. Drones only mask the effects and delay the final outcome. Ukraine is obviously much closer to that critical point than Russia.

Supposedly, the only superiority Ukraine still has in this war is the number of FPV operators, all because Ukraine invested heavily in their recruitment and training at the start of 2022. I say "supposedly" because the google's AI insists that this is true. Personally I think Ukraine lost this superiority a long while ago. And I think the Russian drone operators are simply less known in the Internet because they don't tend to upload every single video of their work in 4k with onboxious phonk edits on top. I also know for sure that the Ukrainian soldiers catch as many FPV drones with their faces as the Russian soldiers, if not more - given Russia's full switch to wartime economy and a wide recruitment of well paid drone operators.

FPV drones aside - it was obvious from the start that Ukraine will run out of war vehicles much sooner than Russia. The tanks, APCs, IFVs, MRAPs and other war vehicles sent by the NATO can't come in big enough numbers and soon enough - and in good enough condition. Plus, Ukraine has a limited number of Ukrainians, and Russia has x4 times the population size anyway.

The Sand War continues.

The quick war against Iran made the Brent crude solidify at $100 per barrel, remaining roughly 30% above pre-war figures - before the whole Operation Epstein Fury began.

The oil expensive due to the near-total halt of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz - despite repeated statements from Donald Trump that everything is open.

Iran's counter-actions made the traffic slow, and Iran's own oil exports went from 1.7 million to 100,000 barrels per day - which makes the prices higher.

Meanwhile Donald Trump ignores the main reason of the current fuel prices, and blames the blue states and Ukraine.

I wish this Sand War would end already - if the waterway remains closed, the prices on everything will only get higher.
