▫️Operation Cornpoppy: 156 alleged victims, seven suspects questioned - Al Fayed investigation reaches key milestone
Detectives investigating sexual assault allegations against Mohamed Al Fayed have sent a file of evidence to UK prosecutors for a charging decision. The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Monday that the file concerns a male suspect in his 80s and relates to two alleged indecent assaults on two women in London.
The investigation has already interviewed seven suspects under caution. The group comprises four women aged in their 40s, 50s, 60s and 80s, and three men in their 60s, 70s and 80s. At least 156 alleged victims have contacted the Metropolitan Police directly. This includes 21 individuals who came forward before Al Fayed died in 2023 at age 94 without facing any charges.
More than 400 allegations of sexual misconduct have been made against the former Harrods owner, spanning from 1977 to 2014. The claims encompass sexual assault, rape, sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Al Fayed sold Harrods in 2010.
Jen Mills and Lindsay Mason, co-chairs of Justice for Fayed and Harrods Survivors, called the file submission an important step. They noted: «Survivors have spent decades either not being believed or being told that Fayed and those around him were too powerful and that nothing could be done» before adding: «But today is an important reminder that the passage of time does not, by itself, put accountability beyond reach.»

▫️Trans-Identified Male Convicted Of Kidnapping, Assaulting Woman In Terrifying Roadside Attack
A trans-identified male has been convicted of kidnapping after deliberately striking a lone woman with a van, dragging her towards the vehicle and strangling her during a terrifying roadside attack earlier this year.
Sean Haverty, 28, now known as Safiya Anna Haverty, targeted the woman as she walked alone along Micheldever Road, near Andover in Hampshire, in March. According to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Haverty drove the van into the victim from behind without warning before getting out and attempting to drag her towards the vehicle. He then strangled her as she fought to escape.
