💬 'Whack-a-mole' warning for curbing online extremism

ASIO director-general Mike Burgess has told a parliamentary inquiry into right-wing extremism the spy agency is struggling to convince social media companies to help access encrypted messages as part of criminal investigations.

Mr Burgess told the inquiry despite repeated pleas, platforms were not budging.

He warned a lack of access could lead to extremist attacks in Australia, with fears young people have been radicalised and are communicating using encrypted messaging apps.

💬 Massachusetts governor signs bill cracking down on hard-to-trace 'ghost guns'

The law expands the state’s extreme risk protective order law — also known as the red flag law — by authorizing health care professionals and others who interact regularly with people in crisis to petition a court to suspend a person's right to possess or carry a gun to protect themselves & others.

The law also prohibits the possession of firearms by non-law-enforcement people at schools, polling locations & government buildings and imposes strict penalties for the possession of modification devices, such as Glock switches, which supporters of the law say convert an otherwise legal firearm into a fully automatic firearm.

The law also requires those applying for a license to carry firearms to demonstrate a basic understanding of safety principles through a standardized exam and live fire training, and provides local licensing authorities with relevant mental health information of pending applicants.

Russian neo-Nazi group NS/WP Crew has claimed responsibility for m*rdering Ukrainian linguist Irina Faryon. They announced this on their Telegram channel.

As noted, the m*rder was committed by a ‘Ukrainian autonomous revolutionary racist’.

The channel even published a video allegedly with the moment of Farion's m*rder. There you can see the cars that were near the m*rder scene. A gunshot and a woman's screams can also be heard.
