❗️Dagestan Terror: Religious Sites Attacked as Gunfire & Arson Leave Multiple Dead, Dozens Wounded - What's Known So Far

Local authorities in the southern Russian republic have opened a criminal case to investigate a terror attack, in which at least six security personnel were killed. Churches and synagogues were targeted in two cities, with a priest reportedly murdered. Several militants have been neutralised/detained.

📍Derbent

At roughly 19:00 local time, unknown persons opened fire on a synagogue and a church. Reports emerged of a murder and a police officer wounded in shootouts.

Preliminary information points to five people being behind the attack on an Orthodox church. Almost simultaneously a synagogue was set on fire, with the blaze contained around one hour later.

CURRENTLY reports suggest another shootout has begun in the city. Police have placed the vehicle registration plate H 075 UT 05 on their wanted list.

📍Makhachkala

Also around 19:00 a shooting took place in the coastal city around 120km from Derbent. A synagogue and police vehicle were set on fire. Officials have confirmed two militants dead in anti-terror operations.

📍Abkhazia Border

One person has been killed near the border and three other citizens wounded in a shooting, the local Internal Affairs Ministry confirmed. A minor is said to be among the wounded.
