As for the 2nd round, I now think Mélenchon will win it. With Bardella, I had some doubt as he was a fresh face for the party ; but now, with Marine le Pen who failed 3 times already and sucks in debates where Mélenchon excels as well as the fact that Marine le Pen is now convicted. Mélenchon can now just spam "Le Pen is a criminal, I am an honest guy" for any debate, including the debate between the 2 rounds. All of that is without mentionning that the centrists will now have no more incentive to vote for the more economically liberal Bardella against Mélenchon as le Pen has always been a statist. So the centrist will for sure, either don’t vote or vote Mélenchon.

He is obviously the favorite of the primary but Xavier Bertrand was the favorite of the LR 2021 primary and he didn't even passed the first round of this primary. So Glucksmann isn't in the clear yet.

🇫🇷 In the same vain of news, Mélenchon made a speech yesterday in fronts of thousands of sympatizers and his core speech wasn’t the usual praising of immigration, Palestine populism or eat the rich speech but was centered around global warming and ecology. This move is made as a section of the Greens headed by Sandrine Rousseau aim to push the Greens to back Mélenchon. The Greens are torn between 3 factions : the Sandrine Rousseau faction who wished to ally with Mélenchon, the Marine Tondelier faction who wished for an independant bid claiming to be the unitary leftist candidacy and the Yannick Jadot faction who wished for an alliance with centre left Raphaël Glucksmann. Mélenchon just made his bid for the Greens, taking a step forward as the rest of the French still bicker on who should represent them.

You can hate Mélenchon for wanting to brownify and Islamisize France, you can hate Mélenchon for wanting to ruin the economy but you have to admit that he is politically intelligent and know how to play his cards right.

🇨🇵 New poll for the upcoming 2027 presidential election were made and confirmed the trend of the RN on 1st place at 35%. However, the centre right candidate Édouard Philippe and far-left candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon are tied in 2nd place at 17%. Please note that Philippe was tested as the sole Macronist candidate without Attal and he is still barely able to go to the 2nd round. Mélenchon being this high this soon is unprecedented and is a good indicator for him as he always overperform the polls. Which means that in reality, when April 2027 comes Mélenchon could easily be at 25% in the 1st round, greatly overperforming the polls (as always).

Note, the CSTO's collective defense clause closely resembles NATO's Article 5, stipulating that an attack on one member is considered an attack on all. However, the alliance did not support Armenia during the 2020 war or the subsequent border clashes with Azerbaijan between 2021, 2022, and 2023, a failure that has fueled growing frustration in Yerevan. Pashinyan in 2021 and 2022 directly requested support, citing the CSTO mutual defense clause, but fell on deaf ears in Moscow, and has even gone as far as accusing Belarus (a CSTO member) of supporting Azerbaijan (a non-CSTO member) against Armenia.

✍️ Inspired by one of the people in the chat, I remembered a Polish poem from the past.

The poem tells the story of a fire in a nursing home for the mentally ill.
I realised that it describes the situation in Europe one-to-one.

This image of an individual who sees the threat, tries to call out to wake others up, but the only response is empty laughter, mockery and insults.

There are people who are awake, but they watch the threat destroying their home more out of curiosity than understanding.

However, the saddest part is the description of what we now have in Europe.
But most are still asleep, smiling in their sleep, and the cry of individuals reaches no one in the comfortable halls cut off from the world.

And yet the poem ends with a dramatic cry that we do not want to flee from here. And we do not want to. No matter how bad things are, no matter how much our world is being destroyed, we cannot renounce it, because our homelands in our Christian white Europe are our home.
