⚡🇨🇳 🇵🇸🇱🇧 Chinese experts' opinion on Israel's blowing up of communication devices in Lebanon
⚡🇨🇳 International security expert Li Wei
-> The claim that Israeli intelligence agency Mossad planted miniature explosive devices in pagers has some basis.
At which stage are pagers most susceptible to interference: production, storage, transportation, or delivery to the user?
-> If this happens during transport or storage, then after intercepting a large number of pagers, Mossad would need to disassemble and modify them, which is unlikely. According to official information, the models of the exploded pagers have a high level of protection against dust and water, and, with the exception of the replaceable battery, everything else is completely sealed. If you disassemble them one by one, this will be easy to find.
-> So the likelihood that the explosives were embedded in the pagers is highest at the manufacturing stage. Also, the management of the pager manufacturing plant could probably have been aware of the situation, and there is a possibility that they had the opportunity to cooperate with the Mossad. The Mossad could be behind this, possibly supplying these one- to two-ounce micro-explosive devices disguised as pager components, and then at the manufacturing stage they are embedded in pagers, radios or mobile phones.

How were pagers manipulated during the Lebanon bombings? Has Israel used similar methods for assassinations in the past?
-> There are two possible paths:
• First, Israel could have sent special signals through specific transmitting stations in Lebanon . These signals could have caused the lithium-ion batteries in the pagers to overheat , which in turn led to the explosions. However, this explanation has certain technical difficulties, since it requires precise control of the signals and the impact on specific devices.
• Secondly, Mossad was able to control the processes of transporting and manufacturing the pagers , during which small explosive devices were planted. At the right time, using a remote device, the pagers were detonated in Lebanon causing large casualties.
-> Historically, Israel has carried out similar intelligence operations in the past. In 1996, it carried out an operation against Hamas key figure Yahya “the Engineer” Ayyash by remotely detonating an explosive device embedded in his mobile phone . This method of targeted killing may be a mass reproduction of Israel’s experience in previous operations to eliminate enemies.
