🚨 Leading Public Health Figure Calls on Biden to Authorize Bird Flu Vaccine
During a Dec. 29, 2024, interview on CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” Dr. Leana Wen, the former commissioner of the Baltimore City Health Department and a professor of public health at George Washington University, accused the outgoing Biden administration of not doing enough to address the bird flu outbreak and criticized the lack of availability of a bird flu vaccine.
Wen suggested the Trump administration would seek additional evidence of the vaccine’s effectiveness before authorizing it. (That's a bad thing? Shouldn't safety and effectiveness be priority?)
There have been 66 confirmed bird flu cases in the U.S., all but one of which caused only mild illness, and there have been no reports of human-to-human transmission of the virus.
