Three Imprisoned in Tunisia for Infant TraffickingA disturbing case of alleged infant trafficking has shocked a Tunisian hospital, leading to the arrest of two security guards and an Algerian woman. Authorities allege the trio conspired to sell a newborn baby born to an Algerian mother.
The incident came to light when hospital staff in Kasserine noticed the disappearance of a newborn. A swift investigation revealed that the baby’s mother, an Algerian national, had handed the child over to another Algerian woman who subsequently left the country.
However, the investigation took a deeper turn when CCTV footage implicated two hospital security guards. The footage allegedly shows the guards in contact with the mother before the birth and assisting the other woman in taking the baby and leaving the hospital.
All three suspects are now in custody, facing charges of human trafficking. If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to 100,000 dinars.
