The most poisonous myth infecting the Muslim mind today is the myth that Muslim men are predisposed to or have a long history of abusing Muslim women and being unjust to them
Save me the anecdotes. For every male abusive jerk you tell me about, I can name you a female abusive jerk. Yes, there are evil men. And guess what? There are evil women. Stop trying to get ideological mileage out of a nonexistent disparity that is purely based on modern liberal philosophy.
Injustice is a human problem, not a male problem.
And the greatest evidence of this is the Book of Allah.
Nowhere in the Quran does Allah single out men as being predisposed to injustice. The Quran includes examples of both men and women who were unjust tyrants. And the commands to be just are directed to both genders equally:
“O you who believe, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.” (4:135)
If it were the case that men had a proclivity to abuse women, why wouldn't Allah warn of this very specific, very consequential gender disparity?
Instead, Allah made men qawwamun [authorities] over women (4:34). If men were by nature abusers and women were by nature innocent and vulnerable, why would Allah create a system of family and society with men and women in these respective positions? Wouldn't that exacerbate the potential for abuse?
We need to excise this myth and stop operating as if it were true. What it has done is create tons of real injustice against Muslim rijal at the hands of some tyrannical nisa who escape all accountability.
The slide into anti-Islamic feminism should also be blamed on those nisa who follow their desires, rather than blaming rijal as if it is their fault. Are Muslimat turning to feminism because of abusive rijal? Nope. Hold these nisa accountable.
Yes, ukhti, you are accountable. When Allah asks you why you took off your hijab, why you engaged in tabarruj, why you committed zina, why you went to the rainbow pride march, whining about Muslim rijal won't be a valid excuse.
Alhamdulillah, many Muslim women (and men) are extricating themselves from this ideology. May Allah preserve them and protect us from every misguidance.
