Putin ignored clear US warning of imminent ISIS attack.

"The US warned Moscow that ISIS militants were determined to target Russia in the days before assailants stormed the Crocus City Hall in an attack that killed scores of people, but President Vladimir Putin rejected the advice as “provocative.” Not only had Russian intelligence services failed to prevent the attack, they said, but Putin had failed to heed warnings from the United States that extremists were plotting to target Moscow. Earlier this month, the US embassy in Russia had said it was “monitoring reports that extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow,” including concerts, and it warned US citizens to avoid such places. US National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson said the US government had “shared this information with Russian authorities in accordance with its longstanding ‘duty to warn’ policy.” But in a speech Tuesday, Putin had blasted the American warnings as “provocative,” saying “these actions resemble outright blackmail and the intention to intimidate and destabilize our society.”

Putin lighting candles in a church is not convincing proof that he's a virtuous Christian. The guy routinely has his political opponents and critics assassinated (Nemtsov, Navalny, Litvinenko, Politkovskaya), invaded and destroyed a majority Christian country (Ukraine), etc. Hardly the behaviour of a pious man of god.

He also lights candles in synagogues and inaugurates the construction of the largest mosque in Europe, which is in Moscow.

Then he goes on to imply some sort of conspiracy that it was timed to hurt Russia.

Does Tucker really believe that Western secret agents snuck into a secluded Russian arctic penal colony to assassinate Navalny just to make Russia look bad?

This is flat earth levels of copium by Zigger Tucker. Putin evidently does not care about his image in the West. He cares far more about appearing strong and invincible in Russia and putting fear into the hearts of his domestic foes.

That's perfectly in line with previous assassinations of opponents like Litvinenko, Nemtsov, Politkovskaya, etc. Exiled Chechen dissidents are assassinated in broad daylight in Western cities by Russian agents.

If you go to Tucker's X page there's not a single mention of Navalny. Surely no segments about it are in the works.

Yet the past weeks he managed to do a softball interview with Putin and a bunch of other pro-Russian segments like this one.

He says Ukraine killed "an American journalist" (Gonzalo Lira) who apparently died of natural causes. Lira was not a journalist but a grifter-propagandist who operated as a Russian fifth columnist in Ukraine during a war. It would be equivalent to someone in America exclusively criticizing the American government as Mexico invaded and occupied the country.

Navalny was an anti-corruption campaigner in Russia and was locked away on fake charges and sent to the Arctic where he has now died. Tucker's silence here tells you all you need to know about him.

He's not a journalist he's a propagandist who rides populist bandwagons for clicks and clout. He's promotes any hack left or right who spouts anti-Ukraine, pro-Russian talking points, no fact checking involved.

Looks like Tucker was mildly pushing back on Putin's ridiculous border claims but wanted to get him to lean into the "threat from the West/NATO expansion" argument more which he sympathizes with. Notice that Putin had no response to "should Hungary take back the piece of Ukraine with Hungarians living there?"

By Putin's own logic, any nation that gained territory from another at any point in history, has the right to take it back at any time. Any country with a "national minority" would then be at risk of secession or separatism. Yet he does not accept this for Russia, where multiple minorities have tried for separatism, especially the Chechens, who he forcefully put down with bombs in the early 2000s.
