- Heart disease - the fate of the elderly
Unfortunately, this is not true. Problems of the cardiovascular system begin at a young age.
- Heart disease is genetic.
This is partly a true statement. However, there are risk factors that can and should be controlled. These include diet, smoking, exercise and family history.
- Alcohol protects against heart disease
It doesn't. Any alcohol is a dose of toxins that put extra strain on the heart and blood vessels.
- It is impossible to die from a severe fright
Cardiologists say that emotions and state of mind affect behavior and heart health. Stress levels and bonding with others are important for heart health.
