▫️Self-styled Hindu 'God on earth' accused of raping and abusing ex-disciples defeats £8m lawsuit as judge rules evidence against him is 'not sufficiently credible'
A Hindu religious leader accused of proclaiming himself 'God-on-earth' while abusing and raping his followers has defeated a £8million lawsuit against him. Four women accused Rajinder Kalia, saying he 'groomed' members of his temple to believe he is 'an incarnation of God', while preying on women and underage girls.
Mr Kalia - head priest at his Hindu-based temple in Coventry - was accused of wooing worshippers by claiming he could perform 'miracles,' including setting fire to water and squeezing blood from a lemon.
He was sued by four former temple members, who claimed he took advantage of his position to subject them to sexual abuse, three of them while still children.

▫️More than 50 children were raped or subjected to vile sex abuse by paedophile monks on UK holy island, damning report reveals
More than 50 children who visited a remote holy island off the coast of Wales were raped or subjected to vile sex abuse by paedophile monks, a leaked report reveals.
Children as young as three were allegedly groomed and attacked in 'plain sight' on Caldey Island, a picturesque tourist spot off the Pembrokeshire coast. For more than 100 years, the island has been home to Caldey Abbey and a small community of Trappist monks. It receives up to 60,000 visitors a year.
In April, an independent review was launched after several people came forward to report allegations of historic sex abuse, dating back more than 60 years. The review found that monks, and men with criminal records who claimed to be monks, were able to join the monastery without checks.
They hid behind their 'chosen' religious names to carry out the horrific attacks, which took place while children were on summer holidays with their parents, often paid for by the Catholic church, or during visits with Catholic schools or youth groups, between 1960 and 1992.

▫️Sex Education and Doctors star guilty of 26 sex offences including acting class rape and nude role-play abuse
A Sex Education star is facing jail after being found guilty of 26 sex offences - including raping a teenager during acting classes.
Alexander Westwood, 24, was on trial accused of a string of sexual offences against women and children at Wolverhampton Crown Court. Jurors heard how the 'manipulative and predatory' actor forced pupils in his drama class to recite Shakespeare naked and also engaged in nude role-play scenarios.
The court was told the Netflix actor - who also starred in BBC's Doctors - sexually assaulted one girl over a seven-year period. He also filmed one budding teen actress naked on his iPad and then tried to bill her family £18,000 for missing drama lessons after sexually abusing her.
Westwood's criminality was said to stretch back to when he was aged just TEN and his victims included two children and former pupils. But today (Tue) a jury of five women and seven men found him guilty of all charges following two days of deliberations after a trial lasting four weeks.

▫️Married former BBC news anchor who paid for young children to strip for him in online video streams is jailed for eight years
A former BBC news anchor spent more than five years paying Filipino children as young as nine to strip for him online.
Married ex-Tokyo correspondent Duncan Bartlett would ask the children and their parents about their schoolwork as he directed them to carry out sexual acts, a court heard.
The 58-year-old university research associate and expert on Asia paid an average of £25 for a live screening involving children aged between nine and 16. The former BBC World Business Report host pleaded guilty to 20 counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, ten of paying for the sexual services of a child under 13, three of making indecent images of children and two of encouraging the commission of offences.

▫️Lawyer claims judge murdered by sheriff was operating a brothel
A Kentucky judge who was gunned down in his chambers by a local sheriff was allegedly “running a brothel” out of his courtroom, according to a witness from a separate criminal case, with her claim being played up as a “compelling defense” for the shooting in court.
“He does have some videotapes of some stuff in the judge’s chambers,” alleged witness Sabrina Adkins told police in an audio recording obtained by NewsNation from a criminal case involving one of ex-sheriff Shawn Stines’ old deputies, Ben Fields, who was convicted and sentenced this year to six months in jail — and nearly a decade of probation — for rape, sodomy, perjury and tampering with a prisoner monitoring device, according to The Mountain Eagle.
Just with girls, sexual and stuff,” Adkins said. “I’ve seen one partly. … Him [Fields] having sex with girls for their bail for them to get out of jail. Ben and just some higher ups up there.”
Adkins attorney Ned Pillersdorf told NewsNation 'it’s like they (Mullins and Fields) were running a brothel out of that courtroom.'

▫️Canada’s privacy laws limit cross-border sex trafficking probes: U.S. envoy
Canada's privacy laws are one of the "real barriers" to addressing the significant issue of cross-border sex trafficking, the outgoing U.S. ambassador to Canada says.
Sex trafficking is one of several border security concerns that have been routinely discussed between the two countries under the Biden administration, Ambassador David Cohen says, long before U.S. president-elect Donald Trump began pushing Canada and Mexico to address irregular migration and drug trafficking or risk punishing tariffs.
While Cohen points out progress has been made on those fronts, he said there was still work to do on other border issues.

▫️Class-action lawsuit for children abused by military priest certified by Alberta court
A class-action lawsuit attempting to hold the federal government responsible for sexual abuse suffered by children at the hands of a military priest at an Edmonton army base has been certified in the Alberta courts.
The case alleges that the federal government allowed a Canadian Armed Forces chaplain, Capt. Angus McRae, to sexually abuse children who were living on armed forces bases with their families. McRae, who died in 2011, served at bases across Canada before he was convicted of sexual crimes against children.
The $60-million claim seeks to hold the government liable for McRae’s misconduct, alleging that the Armed Forces knew or ought to have known about the abuse. Bees’s legal team, Calgary-based Napoli Shkolnik, is encouraging other victims of McRae to come forward

▫️Police urge more survivors of ‘appalling’ child sex offender to come forward
Police believe there may be more victims of a West Coast child sex offender jailed for abusing eight children - one as young as 1 - over 45 years.
Paul James Gilbertson was sentenced to eight years’ jail by the High Court in Greymouth on Friday, with a minimum non-parole period of four years. Most of his offending only came to light after he walked into Greymouth police station and made a full confession.
He admitted five charges of sexual conduct with a child under 12, three of unlawful sexual connection with a child, two of indecency between males, and one charge of sodomy. “Police believe there may have been further survivors of Gilbertson’s offending, and we encourage them to come forward.”
Any survivors of Gilbertson’s offending, or victims of any sexual offending, can call police on 105, visit their local police station, or make a report on the police website, referencing the file number 240105/7894.

▫️Hamilton ‘sexual predator’ teen Justin Turanga David Bruce Perry jailed for raping girl, violating three others
A Hamilton teen who raped and violated four young women - mostly as they slept - has been sent to prison.
However, the judge who sentenced him said while his offending was “completely unacceptable” - Justin Turanga David Bruce Perry “is not a bad person” - rather, a youth who had made “terrible decisions”.
Judge Tini Clark said Perry’s offending was serious and harmful, - but reduced his initial prison term by 60 months on account of his youth, prospect of rehabilitation and “late” remorse.
Perry denied 17 charges related to the sexual assaults of four teenage girls.

▫️Whangārei High Court sentences Clayton Stanley Hunt to life monitoring for child sex abuse
He was a trusted figure in an idyllic beachside community, often relied upon by families to provide transport or care for their children.
But away from the watchful eyes of trusting parents, he drugged one girl and lured another to an abandoned house, subjecting them to violent ordeals that would haunt them for years.
Now, Clayton Stanley Hunt’s predatory obsession with young girls has been uncovered, and he has been classified as such a high risk of reoffending that he will be under lifetime monitoring.

Sydney — Civil society groups and academics say that Australia is falling behind other countries in tackling slavery.
