🇺🇸🇪🇬🇮🇱🇵🇸 Blinken meets El-Sissi in Cairo to discuss Israel-Hamas war

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Egypt on Sunday to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday reaffirmed his country's support for Israel in its fight against Hamas.

Speaking in Cairo after meeting with Egypt's president, Abdel Fattah el-Sissi, Blinken however cautioned that "the way that Israel does this matters. It needs to do it in a way that affirms the shared values that we have for human life and human dignity, taking every possible precaution to avoid harming civilians."

During his meeting with Blinken, el-Sissi said Israel’s Gaza operation has exceeded “the right of self-defense” and turned into “a collective punishment."

It was the strongest public pushback that Blinken has heard from the seven Arab leaders with whom he has met on the trip.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Eritrea's TRWR stands at approximately 6.3 km³ per year. In contrast, Egypt's TRWR is about 66.8 km³ per year.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐚
Both Eritrea and Egypt rely on external renewable water resources (ERWR) from Ethiopia. Eritrea receives about 3.5 km³/year, while Egypt receives an estimated 58.3 km³/year.

𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐠𝐲𝐩𝐭

𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑬𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂:
The percentage of Eritrea's surface water resources originating from Ethiopia can be calculated as:

Percentage=( ERWR/TRWR )×100= (3.5/6.3)×100≈55.6%

This means that approximately 55.6% of Eritrea's total renewable water resources come from rivers originating in Ethiopia.

𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑬𝒈𝒚𝒑𝒕:
The percentage of Egypt's surface water resources that come from Ethiopia can be calculated using the formula:

Percentage=( ERW R/TRW R )×100= (58.3/66.8)×100≈87.3%

This indicates that approximately 87.3% of Egypt's total renewable water resources are sourced from Ethiopia.

In summary, rivers originating from Ethiopia play a significant role in the water resources of both Eritrea and Egypt. For Eritrea, the Mareb and Tekezé rivers contribute about 55.6% to the country's total renewable water resources.

These rivers are crucial for various aspects of Eritrea's development, such as agriculture and hydropower. On the other hand, nearly 87.3% of Egypt's total renewable water resources come from the Blue Nile river in Ethiopia. This river is vital for Egypt's agriculture, drinking water supply, and also holds cultural and historical significance.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲: The percentage is derived from the total water volume that flows into a country, rather than from the individual rivers. So even if multiple rivers contribute to Egypt's renewable water resources, the overall percentage originating from Ethiopia will remain the same as long as the total volume doesn't change.

In my article, mentioning the individual rivers like the Blue Nile, Atbara, and Sobat adds depth and context. It helps readers understand the various pathways through which Ethiopian waters reach Egypt. But, as I pointed out, the key statistic of approximately 87.3% of Egypt's renewable water resources coming from Ethiopia is based on the total volume, not the individual rivers.

My God.

So is this really what we're going to do now? Just sit back and watch a genocide happen on the telly? Then decades from now, when it's in the history books, all look round at each other and ask, 'how did that happen?'

For the first time, I truly understand how mass atrocities have been able to occur throughout history - again, and again, and again. We never learn.

What does the death count need to be before someone finally speaks against this madness and urges restraint, not more arms? 10,000? 100,000?

A million? More? When have enough Palestinians died?

I get that lots of us are scared to speak up. I get we're afraid to say the "wrong thing. But I won't sit by in silence and live with the fact that I never spoke up when an atrocity on this scale was committed because of fear. We can express our complete condemnation for what the Israeli govt are doing and also assert our unwavering belief in the equal value of Palestinian lives, without inciting hatred against Jewish communities - another persecuted people. Indeed, many Jewish and Israeli people, in the midst of their deep grief and knowing the pain of persecution too well, have had the bravery and strength to be the very first to do so.

This is quite simple. We are watching an occupied, oppressed people face annihilation by a nuclear state with the full backing of the western world. This is not - and has never been - an 'equal fight'. Right now, it is a massacre on a scale I don't think I've ever seen in my life.

6,000 bombs dropped in 6 days already. On a strip of land just 25 miles long and 7.5 miles wide at its widest point. Whole neighbourhoods flattened. Families wiped out. Hospitals collapsing under the weight of the casualties. On a population of 2 million - half of them children. 70% of them refugees. And now, the forced movement of 1 million people. A choice of forced migration or death is ethnic cleansing. The fact that it is impossible for that many to leave in that time means that this is now a genocide.

We have gone way, way beyond wishy washy 'praying for peace', 'all life is precious' IG statements, posted to show you've done your bit of performative activism. Show you mean it. If you have any kind of platform right now, please use it. Speak. Because it's becoming glaringly obvious that the world is happy to walk into an unspeakable horror that we didn't even bother to try to prevent.’

@Slavyangrad

Do you know how security was built in the middle east? I'll tell you briefly. The Americans and their company would come in and beat anyone who didn't agree with the rules.  You either get beaten or you get bought.
All for control of oil and the petrodollar, frankly.
This happens when the global empire loses its influence and the local players get stronger.  The cycle repeats itself about every 100 years or so.Look at Britain. They've been through it.  Today you're being offered a world of equals. Yes, that multipolar world.
The main problem for the U.S., which is now losing influence, is to find the ability not to retain it, but to retain itself as the American people. In other words, it is no longer time to think about hegemony, but about what is inside America - America itself.

The West Is Not ‘Judeo-Christian’

an essay by Alexander Dugin, published by Arktos.

The escalation of hostilities between Israel and Palestine undoubtedly unifies the Islamic world. Western conservatives once again invoke the defence of a ‘Judeo-Christian civilisation’ in the face of Muslims – the radical ideology of Hamas gives them a convenient pretext. Yet, a society deeply rooted in atheism, materialism, and the legalisation of various perversions, having long abandoned theology and traditional values, can neither be considered Christian nor Jewish.

If such a Western stance, as we observe now, supports Israel, then something has gone seriously amiss. For if the devil’s civilisation is on your side, you have taken a misstep. There is no such thing as a Judeo-Christian world; it is pure nonsense. In contrast, the Islamic world exists, and its traditions remain strong. The dynamic is not Judeo-Christians versus Muslims; it is Muslims opposing a satanic culture, opposing the Antichrist. Biden’s idea to merge the themes of supporting Ukraine with that of Israel underlines this: the West always sides with those who obey its hegemony. Muslims were not enemies of Ukraine or allies of Russia (except the eschatologically awakened Iran and Syria), but now they may be.

Russia represents a pole in a multipolar world.

Islam represents a pole in a multipolar world.

Both poles stand against the West’s desperate attempts to maintain – even if it risks a world war – unipolarity and global dominance. The Palestinian conflict with Israel was not a civilisational frontline, but now it is. Similarly, the tensions between Russia and Ukraine were regional until the West supported the nationalists in Kiev. This made the war in Ukraine a frontline of a global confrontation between multipolarity and unipolarity.

The scale of this confrontation is expanding. The situation is growing increasingly ominous. Billions globally are convinced that the collective West and its allies represent the utmost evil – the civilisation of the Antichrist.

Perhaps only Trump’s return to US leadership, or the onset of a full-blown civil war there, can save the world from Apocalypse or at least delay it. Democrats, globalists, and neoconservatives are leading humanity straight into the abyss, which, strictly speaking, is the demonic mandate.

👎📰 FACTS DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS: Right-wing pundit Ben Shapiro boosts Israeli PM's alleged proof of atrocities against babies by Hamas - except image appears to be AI generated.

Meanwhile, 500 Gazan children so far among 1,500 total in Gazan strip actually burned under brutal barrage of Israeli rockets.

Aside from the "proof" an additional debunking of beheaded babies claim, how messed up do you have to be to AI generate images of burned babies - that don't even look like babies? (Come to think of it, the doctor's left hand barely looks like a hand!)

According to @africaintel, Burkina Faso is to sign nuclear power deal with Russia

Burkina Faso and Russia are on Friday due to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Burkina Faso.

The agreement will be a culmination of talks the Burkinabe military ruler, Capt Ibrahim Traore, had with Russian president Vladimir Putin in July during the Russia-Africa summit in Moscow.

"The MoU will be signed between Rosatom, the Russian federal atomic energy agency, and the Burkinabe ministry of energy, on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week 2023," the report further said.

Burkina Faso is one of the least electrified countries globally, with only about 20% of the population having access to electricity, according to the International Energy Atomic Agency.

Africa's critical minerals attract US attention more and more

The US is stepping up efforts to strengthen ties with African countries rich in critical mineral resources to ensure security of supply, a government official said.

Workshops recently held in Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) brought in US experts with the ultimate goal of setting up local battery manufacturing operations.

Last month, the US government approved $150 million of funding for a graphite-mining project in Mozambique.

In addition, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed a memorandum of understanding with DRC and Zambia in December to explore ways to support their plan to develop an electric-vehicle value chain together. The two Central African nations are major producers of copper and cobalt, key metals in electric vehicles and batteries.
