🇪🇸🇪🇨 Spanish police seize record cocaine in Ecuadorean banana shipment

Spanish police have made a record cocaine seizure after finding 13 metric tons of the drug hidden in a shipment of bananas in a container from Ecuador in the southern port of Algeciras.

The amount, discovered on Oct. 14. breaks the previous record in Spain when 9.4 tons of cocaine were found in 2023, also in Algeciras, the fourth biggest container port in Europe.

The Spanish police were on alert after a tip off from their counterparts in Ecuador, the world's largest banana exporter, that a suspicious cargo was on its way.

🇺🇸🗳Preliminary AP VoteCast data suggested a shift among Black and Latino voters, who appeared slightly less likely to support Harris than they were to back Biden four years ago.

About 8 in 10 Black voters backed Harris, down from the roughly 9 in 10 who backed Biden.

More than half of Hispanic voters supported Harris, but that was down slightly from the roughly 6 in 10 who backed Biden in 2020. Trump’s support among those groups appeared to rise slightly compared to 2020.

U.S. authorities have arrested a Turkish man who they allege was trying to violate sanctions by transporting oil from Venezuela, the Justice Department said on Monday.

In a statement, the Justice Department said 37-year-old Taskin Torlak had "allegedly conspired to illegally sell Venezuelan oil, using deceit and trickery to hide the fact that this oil originated from Venezuela".

Torlak was arrested in Miami on Saturday as he tried to leave for Turkey.

The department said Torlak and others renamed and reflagged oil tankers and turned off the electronics that track vessel locations, receiving tens of millions of dollars from PDVSA.

🇧🇴Bolivia's Arce says Morales backers behind military posts takeover

Bolivian President Luis Arce accused followers of his former mentor-turned-rival, Evo Morales, of being behind an armed takeover of military posts and holding soldiers hostage on Friday.

Arce said the groups had forced their way into three military posts outside the central Bolivian city of Cochabamba, home to many supporters of ex-President Morales, after shooting at and launching dynamite at police.

The groups have also broken into each post's armory, Arce said, calling the act "criminal" and accusing the attackers of treason.
